Our Solution

Solena’s IBGTL Solution

Solena’s Integrated Biomass Gasification to Liquid (“IBGTL”) solution consists of five integrated processing “islands”.

BioSynGas Conditioning Island

  • BioSynGas is free of tar, soot, or medium to long chain hydrocarbons
  • It is rapidly cooled and filtered to ensure that any remaining volatile metals, and/or particulate matter are removed
  • Acidic gases such as hydrogen chloride (HCl) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S) are removed to meet FT process’ technical specifications and ensure that the BioSynGas does not damage the Fischer-Tropsch catalyst
  • It is then passed through a scrubbing system for acid gas removal
  • It is passed through a series of filters and moisture separators to condition it
  • The conditioned BioSynGas is sent into the FT processing island

FT Processing Island

  • In the FT processing island the clean BioSynGas is converted into into various hydrocarbons such as wax, and Light Fischer-Tropsch Liquids (LFTL)
  • The wax and liquids produced within the FT processing island are subsequently upgraded into liquid fuels (jet or marine and naphtha) via the FT wax upgrading island

FT Wax Upgrading Island

  • The FT wax upgrading island converts the FT waxes into various drop-in, replacement fuels such as jet (FT-SPK), diesel (road or marine) and naphtha
  • The tail gas, which is free of impurities), is routed to the power production block

Solena Proprietary High Temperature Gasification Island

  • Proprietary high temperature gasification system
  • Receives the waste biomass via screw feeders, which deliver the feedstock to the Solena Plasma Gasification Vessels

Power Production Island

  • The tail gas is used within our IBGTL facility for power generation, which consists on a gas turbine in combined cycle. This provides power to run the facility self-sustainably
